Hey, Lykkers! We just returned from an incredible autumn getaway in Banff National Park, and we can’t wait to share the stunning sights and experiences we encountered.

The vibrant fall colors and crisp mountain air made our trip truly unforgettable!

The Spectacular Lake Louise

Our journey began at the iconic Lake Louise, which transforms into a breathtaking canvas of golden larch trees and turquoise waters in the fall. We hiked the Lakeshore Trail, taking in views that seemed straight out of a painting. The trail is easily accessible and free to explore, but we recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds. The stunning scenery is perfect for photography, especially with the reflection of the surrounding mountains on the lake’s surface. The area is open year-round, with visitor facilities operating daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Moraine Lake: A Colorful Paradise

Next, we headed to Moraine Lake, another must-see gem in Banff. The vibrant blue waters surrounded by the majestic Valley of the Ten Peaks were absolutely mesmerizing. We took the Rockpile Trail, which offers the best views of the lake and its stunning backdrop. Access to Moraine Lake is seasonal and typically opens in late May, with the best time to visit in the fall being mid-September to early October. There is no entrance fee for the area, but parking fills up quickly, so consider arriving early or using shuttle services.

The Enchanting Bow Valley Parkway

We couldn’t resist a scenic drive along the Bow Valley Parkway, where the autumn foliage provided a dazzling display of colors. The drive is about 48 kilometers long and offers numerous pull-offs for breathtaking views and photo opportunities. Along the way, we stopped at Johnston Canyon, where the stunning waterfalls and unique rock formations captivated us. The trail to the Lower Falls is about 1 kilometer and is open year-round, with a small parking fee of around $10. The trail is well-maintained, making it accessible for all skill levels.

A Cozy Stay at The Rimrock Resort Hotel

For a special treat, we stayed at The Rimrock Resort Hotel, located just a short drive from Banff. This luxurious hotel offers stunning views of the Rockies and is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. Rooms start at around $250 per night, and the hotel features amenities like a spa, fine dining, and easy access to the gondola for those seeking adventure. It was the ultimate cozy retreat to relax and enjoy the fall scenery!
