Hey, Lykkers! We just returned from an amazing adventure in Porto, Portugal, and we can’t wait to share all the fantastic experiences we had.

This vibrant city, with its stunning architecture and rich culture, truly stole our hearts!

Exploring Ribeira: A Colorful Waterfront

Our first stop was the picturesque Ribeira district, where the colorful buildings line the Douro River. We spent hours wandering the cobblestone streets, soaking in the lively atmosphere. One of our favorite moments was enjoying a meal at a riverside café, where we savored traditional dishes like bacalhau à brás. The area is free to explore, and the views are absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset. Don’t forget your camera—the vibrant colors make for stunning photos!

The Iconic Dom Luís I Bridge

Next, we crossed the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, a true architectural marvel that connects Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia. Walking across the upper level gave us incredible panoramic views of the city and the river below. The bridge is open 24/7, and it’s free to walk across, making it a must-see for anyone visiting Porto. We loved taking in the scenery and capturing those unforgettable moments together. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the walk!

Visiting the Livraria Lello

No trip to Porto would be complete without a visit to Livraria Lello, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. We felt like we had stepped into a Harry Potter novel as we admired the stunning staircase and intricate woodwork. The bookstore charges a small entrance fee of around €5, which can be redeemed against a book purchase. It’s open daily from 9 AM to 8 PM, so plan your visit early to avoid the crowds. We spent hours browsing the shelves, feeling inspired by the ambiance and literary history.

Practical Tips for Your Porto Trip

If you’re planning a trip to Porto, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the city is quite hilly and best explored on foot. The public transportation system is also efficient, with trams and buses that can take you to various attractions. We recommend getting a Porto Card, which provides unlimited travel on public transport and discounts at many attractions. Additionally, don’t forget to try the local port drinks—there are plenty of drinks cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia offering tastings.

Lykkers, our time in Porto was filled with incredible sights, delicious food, and unforgettable moments. From the vibrant Ribeira district to the stunning Livraria Lello, every corner of the city has something special to offer. We highly recommend adding Porto to your travel bucket list—you’ll fall in love with its charm just like we did! Happy travels, everyone!
