When we think of Tokyo, one iconic structure comes to mind: Tokyo Tower. Rising majestically to a height of 333 meters, this symbol of modern Japan is not just a broadcasting tower; it’s a vibrant hub of culture, history, and breathtaking views.

Our recent visit to Tokyo Tower was filled with delightful discoveries and unforgettable experiences, and we can't wait to share them with you!

A Closer Look at Tokyo Tower

Opened in 1958, Tokyo Tower was inspired by the Eiffel Tower, serving as both a tourist attraction and a communications hub. As we approached the tower, its bright orange and white paint scheme stood out against the backdrop of the city skyline, making it an unmistakable landmark.

Opening Hours and Tickets:

Tokyo Tower is open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, allowing us to experience the stunning day and night views. Tickets for the Main Deck (150 meters high) are priced at 1,200 yen for adults, while the Top Deck (250 meters high) costs 2,800 yen. We opted for both to capture the best views of the sprawling city below, especially as the sun set over the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.

The View from Above

The experience of ascending to the observation decks is exhilarating. As we stepped onto the Main Deck, the panoramic views of Tokyo took our breath away. We could spot the bustling streets of Shibuya, the serene expanse of the Imperial Palace, and even glimpses of Mount Fuji in the distance. Each corner of the observation deck offered a unique perspective, making it a photographer’s dream.

After enjoying the Main Deck, we ventured to the Top Deck, where the views became even more spectacular. Here, we felt as if we were floating above the city. The glass walls offered a thrilling view straight down, and we were mesmerized by the twinkling lights as dusk settled in.

Practical Information for Your Visit

When planning your visit, keep in mind that Tokyo Tower can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. Arriving early in the morning or later in the evening can enhance your experience. There are several shops and cafes within the tower where you can grab a snack or souvenir, so take your time exploring.

Where to Stay

For a unique stay close to Tokyo Tower, we recommend the Park Hotel Tokyo. Located just a short distance away, this hotel offers stunning views of the tower itself and features artistically designed rooms. Prices start around 20,000 yen per night, and it’s the perfect blend of comfort and style. We loved the modern decor and the hotel’s commitment to showcasing local artists.

A Taste of Tokyo

No trip is complete without indulging in local cuisine. Nearby, we found Tendon Tenya, a casual eatery specializing in tempura bowls. We tried the “Tendon” set, which comes with shrimp and seasonal vegetables, all perfectly fried and served over rice. The price? Just 1,200 yen! The crispy texture combined with the savory sauce made it a highlight of our culinary adventures.

Another must-try is Kagura, known for its delicious gyudon . For around 800 yen, we savored tender meat simmered in a sweet soy sauce, served over rice. It was comfort food at its finest.
